The Shinty World Primary School Essay Competition 2023 invited young writers to explore the history, heritage, and community spirit of shinty.
Schools competed for a prize bundle including:
🏑 10 Tanera Camans
🏑 12 Play Shinty Balls
🏑 Protec Shinty Stick Team Bag
Entries were submitted by 21 January 2024 and judged by an independent panel. The winning entry was announced on 1 February 2024 and published in the Shinty Year Book.
Participants were asked to submit:
• A brief history of their school and school shinty team
• An original essay on shinty
Suggested themes included local shinty history, lifetime achievements, untold stories, and the experiences of lifelong volunteers.
Entries were welcomed in English or Gaelic.
