Not An Orchid. Author, Dr Hugh Dan MacLennan is one of Shinty’s most well known broadcasters and authors.  Here he has gathered together fascinating history and images of the game. The following represents an introductory list of reading on shinty, hurling and related matters – historical, literacy and to some extent socio-economic. It is by no means an exhaustive list of everything written about both sporting codes and the links with Australia, Ireland and Canada. It is, however, thankfully a list which is being expanded on a regular basis, as a result of ongoing research and a more enlightened approach to the study of Scottish history in particular.
