Over the past few years, we have been quietly testing a new concept, an indoor caman designed to keep players training, playing, and connected through the long Highland winters.
For many clubs, the arrival of winter means frozen or wet pitches, dark evenings, and no floodlit astro access. Training slows. Touch and timing fade. The indoor caman offers a fresh way to keep the game alive indoors, helping players stay sharp until spring returns.
Tested by Players, Built for the Game
The concept has been tested by senior men’s and women’s players at Inverness Shinty Club, who helped refine its feel and balance on a range of indoor surfaces – from wooden hall floors to gym mats and sports facilities.
The stick has shown excellent control, balance, and response, designed to work with a soft size 4 indoor play shinty ball that protects hall surfaces while maintaining realistic movement and touch.
It’s not just about keeping fit; it’s about keeping skills alive – touch, timing, and precision through the months when outdoor training isn’t possible.
For Every Player, at Every Stage
From youth development sessions in schools to adult fitness and over-40s training, this caman opens new possibilities for winter activity.
It gives every player, from youth to veterans, a way to stay engaged, connected, and ready for the season ahead.
Now available at Shinty World, this design has the potential to support year-round participation, not just in shinty, but in any hall-based stick training programme.

It’s important to note that this caman is not yet approved for kids indoor shinty matches.
It remains a training aid, created to support skill development and off-season training as the sport continues to explore the potential for structured indoor play.
